Ooga booga! Banger of a textbook!

Sorry, "lively style" and "personal anecdotes" are non a style to teach something that should be scientific. OK, "lively style" COULD exist good, but not when it is just a bunch of "just so" stories. Yes, it is relatively progressive on topics such as child abuse, feminism, domestic violence,... but it gives picayune evidence and little insight to would-exist sociologists as to how to investigate anything. Full of shallow insights such as "Spanking (children) may be a perfectly acceptable form of discipli Distressing, "lively fashion" and "personal anecdotes" are not a manner to teach something that should be scientific. I did acquire some things, hence ii *s merely information technology left me with an understanding of why social scientific discipline is considered "easy" in some schools, when it should exist treated as 1 of the more difficult merely of import sciences, and a thirst for better sources. This book was the text for a Sociology course, taken during Fall 2019 at Santa Rosa Inferior College. With a 2019 copyright, it was very up-to-date with many of the bug that were currently existence addressed by gild. Often, the headlines that showed upward across news-feeds could be related to a subject that I'd read about in this book. If I could charge per unit this book in terms of pain. It would rate equally a 10- Excruciatingly painful 😖.
Information technology was required reading for a grade.

It is difficult for me to escape the impression that the author considers unproven theory and anecdotal experiences to be as apparent as facts, statistics, and research studies. The enquiry studies he provides are helpful and memorable, simply the capacity are besmirched by subjective and untrue claims (for case, he implied that gender inequality exists in a similar or even worse degree today as it did in 1848 (folio 367)), and his overuse of his own experiences and the word "I."
